The Real Bread Campaign is now live! Register your farm shop or farmers' market with the site to help drive consumer traffic to your produce. 'Real Bread' is defined as: - made from made from flour, water, yeast and salt (optional) - made without 'improvers', additives or processing aids (including enzymes) - made with other natural food ingredients such as nuts, fruits, vegetables and fats, only if these themselves contain no additives The campaign is spearheaded by Andrew Whitley, author of 'Bread Matters', and overseen by Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming. Working around the country with independent bakers, educators, community groups, local food projects, millers, growers, and public institutions, the coalition of consumers, bakers and campaigners hope to make Real Bread accessible to more people from all sectors of society. Activities will include promoting the pleasures and benefits of locally produced Real Bread, helping to spread both commercial and domestic breadmaking skills and continuing to fight for an improvement of all bread in Britain. 1 August is Lammas, the ancient harvest festival - find out more about how the festival can help you promote your products at www.realbreadcampaign.org
