One of Surrey's longest established farmers' markets groups enjoyed a double celebration on midsummer's day, 21 June 2009.

The FARMA Certified group operate at three locations - Milford, Cranleigh and Haslemere. They celebrated ten years of continuous monthly markets at Secretts's farm in Milford.

Producers and supporters came together at the close of the market to also celebrate the formation of a new co-operative in which producers are taking the lead.

Picture shows Iain Lynch of Waverley Borough Council receiving an award from Eddie Dagg one of the Directors of the new co-operative. Iain was instumental in helping to set up the farmers' market in 1999, and has acted as market manager at Milford for the ten year period.

The formation of the co-operative was supported through the Big Lottery Fund Making Local Food Work programme in which FARMA is a partner organisation.

A number of farmers' markets are celebrating thier tenth anniversary this year, including Stroud on 4 July. If you have a tenth coming up, please let us know.
